EXCURSION EVENT
The Metis Crossing Experience !
Monday June 30th
We will be traveling by coach to Metis Crossing situated near Smoky Lake, AB.
We will be spending the day exploring and learning about indigenous culture, history and lifestyle. There are numerous opportunities that will let you experience this diverse and amazing culture.

Your journey begins with an exploration of the rich history of the Métis Nation at their Veteran’s Monument. Walk along the Old Victoria Trail, following in the footsteps of the Métis families who came west to settle here on the beautiful North Saskatchewan River, and travel back in time at the Historic Village. Here, you’ll meet the animals in our traditional River Lot farmyard, learn about the iconic Métis Red River Cart, explore the original River Lot homes of the Sinclair and Cromarty families, and experience first-hand how Métis families lived on these very lands.
Finally, get in touch with your artistic side and learn a traditional art project that you can take home as a reminder of your experience at Métis Crossing! This Signature Experience is a perfect introduction for guests of all ages to immerse themselves in the unique Indigenous story of the Métis people.
Please register no later than May 28th to secure your seat.
Our itinerary
Bus departure from Riverview Crossing Mall (118 Ave and 34 Street) at 8 AM, returning at approximately 4 PM. Vehicles may be left in the NW end of the mall parking lot.
Check-in at Metis Crossing for your tour at approximately 10 AM.
Buffet luncheon will be available at noontime for our group.
There will be free time following lunch to explore the site until departure.
Departure at 2:30 PM with arrival back in Edmonton at approximately 4:00 PM.
