Root For Trees

Root for Trees is the City of Edmonton's volunteer tree-planting initiative!

We hope to see you on July 4th, 2026

6504 - 2nd Avenue SW on the South East Side of Edmonton.

Plan to meet at 9:45 for a 10AM start - immediately following the planting we will celebrate our efforts and going to lunch at:

Important Notes About This Event:

You may want to consider bringing a bottle of water.

Please wear comfortable clothing. All volunteers entering the planting area are required to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. If proper footwear is not worn, volunteers will be unable to participate.

Root for Trees will plant rain or shine! However, in the event of severe weather, volunteer plantings may be shortened or cancelled for staff and public safety.

2026 Casino (Sunday, July 12, 2026)

The Society of Vintage Characters provides most of our events at no cost to our membership.

In order to do this our organization works an AGLC licensed casino every other year.

We are excited to announce our 2026 casino has been scheduled.

Century Casino Edmonton

13103 Fort Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T5A 1C3

Two Dates:

Sunday July 12 and Monday July 13, 2026

In order to run the AGLC casino we will be looking for 34 volunteers (17 per day) from our membership to fill the various positions.

Working a casino can be both fun and fulfilling and provides us with the monies needed to continue our programming.

Our Casino Director, Gerry Hofs, can provide you with more information if you have never worked a casino and will also be handling member registration.

Christmas Bureau Volunteer Opportunity (Wednesday, July 22, 2026)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

IN SUPPORT OF THE CHRISTMAS BUREAU

We have an opportunity to once again help the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton.

We are recruiting for Gate Ambassadors at Taste of Edmonton and a donation for every volunteer hour is then made to Christmas Bureau of Edmonton.

Vintage Characters would like to fill a 14-person shift.

July 22nd from 2:30 - 6:30 PM

Volunteers will be provided with a shirt, snack voucher, and festival tickets to enjoy at the various vendors onsite.

If you are scheduled before July 1, you can be registered for free parking in designated lots and/or ETS tickets to get to and from the event.

Following the shift there will be an opportunity for the group to stay and enjoy the cuisine.

Gate Ambassadors

The Christmas Bureau of Edmonton has an opportunity to help out our friends at Events Edmonton during their 2026 Taste of Edmonton event. If you are someone who likes meetings and talking with people, can stand for a four-hour shift, and doesn’t mind monitoring a crowd and reporting any incidents to security, this volunteer activity is for you.

THE DETAILS:

Dates: July 22 | Location: Sir Winston Churchill Square, Downtown Edmonton

1. There are 5 gates on site and you will be assigned the gate upon arrival for your shift.

2. You will be working in pairs and there will be a Christmas Bureau Team Lead on-site to assist.

3. You will receive a counter clicker to keep track of people exiting and/or entering the site.

4. There will be security at each gate to deal with any issues. CBE volunteers will refer all issues to Security or Site Management.

5. This is an outdoor position and we go rain or shine unless called off by Event Management.

6. The Gate Ambassadors will have access to an open tent at each gate.
